Crate and Barrel Design Services Video

The concept of this video was to demonstrate the experience between customer and designer for Crate and Barrel Design Services. This was a high impact project with a short lead time and shot off-site at Essenay Studios in Chicago. This added an extra layer of logistics to the set design and construction of the project. The project was a success and it pleased the many teams that would use the assets created from this shoot.

Initial Set Ideation

The set was to reference the finishes of the retail store but allow for better sightlines for the camera crew to capture the customer and designers’ stories.

Final Set Sketch

Collaborating with the Art Director and Video team we were able to design a dynamic and appealing set that could be used to capture all the requested assets. The architectural details and selection of materials and finishes allowed for a clean and refined environment perfect to allow the customers and designers to share their story in.

Set Build

Building off-site is always a challenge because we may not have the resources of our home studio at hand at all times. As the set designer and lead of this project, I anticipated our needs so we could deliver the build on time and put in the necessary overtime to make it happen. Collaborating with the Art Director we were able to select finishes that impressed but were within the budget of the project. Creativity and problem solving were key skills to help make this set come to life in the limited amount of time we had.

International Women’s Day 2019

I get to work with some badass women in the Crate and Barrel Photo Studio set department but we are a minority on the team as a whole. We had the honor of being featured for this year’s International Women’s Day. This Project came together rather quickly to meet print deadlines so it could launch across all channels simultaneously. It was a step outside our comfort zones to be in front of the camera but it was a pleasure to design and build this set in honor of all the women that contribute to the company.
